AMC Hosts the Second Annual “Living Legends” Luncheon
May 20, 2010

(New York, NY – May 20, 2010)  The Animal Medical Center (AMC) held its Second Annual Living Legends Luncheon at The Harmonie Club in NYC on Wednesday, May 19. Over 150 attendees celebrated the astonishing recoveries of three companion animals who are receiving treatment at The Animal Medical Center: Mia The Maine Coon cat; Eddee The Yorkshire Terrier; and Jack The Labrador.

Kathryn Coyne, AMC’s new Chief Executive Officer - and the first woman to hold that office in the institution’s 100 years - hosted the event, along with co-chairs Barbara Hoffman, Kane Nussbaum, Annette Osnos and Helene Stein.

Notable guests included AMC Trustees Elaine Langone, Annette de la Renta, Nancy Kissinger, Eli Hoffman, Wendy Lash and Tina Flaherty, and others such as Elizabeth Monaco McCarthy, Ellen Marcus, William Secord, Marco Maccioni, Gloria Stoga, Gigi Mahon, Judy Ney, Lili and Normal Israel and Michael Heaner.  Funds raised from the Living Legends Luncheon will help AMC – the world’s largest hospital for companion animals, to provide ongoing support to other patients.

Robert Liberman, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, provided welcoming remarks.  Dr. Cathy Langston, Dr. Chick Weiss and Dr. Allyson Berent, the AMC veterinarians caring for and treating Mia, Eddee and Jack, talked about the treatments they have administered and why these extraordinary animals are true Living Legends.

Located on the upper east side of Manhattan, The AMC has been a part of the fabric of this city for 100 years. Founded in 1910 by Ellin Prince Speyer, The AMC remains today a non-profit, teaching institution, open 24 hours, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
