Licensed Veterinary Technician

Qualifications

  • Must have NYS Veterinary Technician’s license or be license eligible
  • Experience working with exotics strongly preferred
  • Experience with anesthesia preferred
  • Must be able to restrain all species
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Must be able to work successfully as part of a team and remain composed in emergency situations
  • Strong skills sets in phlebotomy, catheter placement, anesthesia protocols, anesthesia monitoring and postoperative care is essential
  • Have willingness and determination to remain on the cutting edge of veterinary anesthesia
  • Must be flexible about working additional hours when necessary
  • Must have basic computer skills

Responsibilities

  • Must assist in all aspects of patient care from admission through discharge
  • Primary responsibilities are anesthesia and surgical nursing for patients of Exotics service
  • Duties will include but not limited to: troubleshooting, operation and care of surgical and anesthetic equipment, maintenance of inventory, participation in an overnight and/or weekend anesthesia on-call rotation and research/educational projects

Shift

  • Sunday 10am-8pm, Monday 9am-7pm, Tuesday 9:30am-6pm, Wednesday 10am-6:30pm (Tuesday and Wednesday FLOAT shifts)
